Baby Bubba

My Poor little boy had a rough day. He went to the vet today to have the parrot equivelent of an endoscopy done when the vet found he had a bad infection in his crop. So instead of going down the hatch they created a new one. He is doing well tonight and has a few little stitches to show for his trouble. I tihnk by the look on his face he was still a little out of it when I took this picture.

Hopefully this biopsy will let us know if he does indeed have PDD and will need some medication. The good news is the vet says it's very treatable and we happen to catch his disease in the earliest stages. So for now Bubbs gets a diet of soft foods only, like mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, all the soft cooked veggies he wants for the next couple of days and he will take more antibiotics for the crop infection and then see what the next step is when the lab results come back.

I'm sure lucky to have a board certified Avian vet so close to home. Even if I am putting his kids through college, I figure I've bought them a few textbooks at any rate. My little Bubbster is worth it. He's a very mellow bird and takes all of this in stride as long as he gets to share my dinner with me every night.

I'll write more later and keep everyone posted on his progress.

Sorry Bubba is under the weather but it sounds like he's in great hands with your vet. Thanks for keeping us posted!

Oh Tina, poor Bubba! Hugs all around. Well, I've never hugged a bird before, but you know what I mean.
