Bad Hair Day?

Yet another OFFF survived. I had an absolute blast. My sister, friend and I did the Thelma and Louise drive down to the festival. Barb is turning into a pro at driving the big truck with big trailer in tow. No one barfed, grabbed the "Oh shit" handle and\or died so she did a good job.

When we got there we found that we got to camp in "The Grove" it was pretty cool, it was in a nice shaded area and we could pull through so we never had to unhook the trailer at all the whole weekend.

It was then, that fateful night, that the battle began. It was epic and one that will be remembered in the annals of Fiber Festivals. It is our usual custom to open a lovely bottle of red wine upon our arrival at the shagri la of sheep.

So My friend Sam attepted to open the bottle. First, the bottle openner broke off in her hand leaving the screw part in the cork. The she tried a nut pick, that too broke off in the plastic cork. All in all it took three women,a bottle opener, nut pick and screwdriver over an hour to open a bottle of wine. But by God we did it!

The next day we spent out time visit with our friend Sheila and Michael Ernst, shopping, petting creatures, Nuzzling Llamas, shopping and spinning. The weather was fantastic.

It was that morning when I first saw her, her lovely white, soft and fluffy, fur, her beady red eyes and gray spot on her nose. I knew we were destined for each other. So yes, I got yet another animal. Little Bijoux the Angora bunny will come home with me next weekend. Her aunite won best in show at OFFF and she looks like she will grow into a fine pet as well as fiber supply. I just hope my other house bunny Bob will like her. Hey, at least I didn't buy another wheel.

That afternoon we sat under the tree and spun, later we walked over with our friends to a nice Mexican restaurant for dinner, then we spent the evening hanging out and talking. The next day was more friends, shopping and animal petting.

Barb and Sam had found two little Shetland sheep and they both fell in love with their fleeces. I was determined not to get any more fleece so I held out as long as I could (yeah, like five minutes) The sheep owner let us hang out with the sheep and led them to the shearer where we waited and bonded with the sheep and thier fleeces. So of course I wound up taking Savanah the Shetlands fleece home with me.

So today I am totally exhausted, it must just be a fiber festival hangover!
