I had to remove 14 pears from one of the pear trees in the backyard becuase I spotted some chickens jumping up an dpecking away at some of them. They only ate 2 before I got the rest. Looks like they will be locked away in thier own run here pretty soon, all though I have been saying that for weeks now.
Havent seen Barry the Beaver lately, even though the lettuce and cucumbers I put out continue to disappear over night. The Bf has even given him his own water bowl out by his den entrance.
He says, "It's interesting to have a gopher living in your backyard, but it's pretty cool to have an actual Beaver living in your backyard"
After researching Mountain Beavers on the internet I've learned a few interesting things. It's legal in Washignton state to kill them, but it is illegal to trap and then release them anywhere but on the orignal property they were found on. So if we were to take him to a local park to release him, we would be breakign the law I guess. The best advise was a website that said to "Harass the beaver daily" and he night get fed up and move house.
Yeah, ok, do the dishes, water the lawn, harass beaver. How do you harass a mountian beaver? Call it names? throw things at him?
We had a very nice weekend with the BF's family. It was little Miss Emma's second birthday. She had a very pretty cake with balloons and lots of presents. She's still not quite got the hang of presents just yet but I'm sure she will by Christmas. As usual her "Unka" got her some pretty cool gifts. This, after spending more than an hour deliberating over the choices in Toys-r-us. It was almost a trip down memory lane for me, I saw lots of games I used to play, Life, PayDay, Perfection. I got a big kick out of the play ATM machines and play cash registers with little microphones attached so kids can practice saying "You want fries with that?" Unka got her a neato pop up Jeep\tent thingy. It had Diego (Dora the exporors cousin) on it and Emma recognized the baby jaguar right away when she saw it. He also got her a pad thingy that she can stomp on and it makes animal sounds when you step on the pig for example.
Bf's Mom also gave ame a cute snail for the backyard and a subscription to a wild bird magazine and his sis and bro in law gave me an always appreciated Starbucks card for my bday.
Nothing much else to report. I'm looking forward to the fair this summer. Just made plans with my sis in law to demonstrate spinning in the sheep barn. Plus I may also take advantage of my Thursdays off to parouse the fair and all it's delights.
ttfn!
