Well, it looks like fall is on it's way. Last year I planted a few fruit trees in my backyard and they have done suprisingly w

One of my goals is to get my back and front yards cleaned up well for winter and maybe have some landscaping done. I'll admit I love planting things but hate to weed. So I am thinking to have a couple of raised beds put in were the old chicken run used to be so that I can keep the weeding at a minimum.
This is a picture of my little Bantam lady sitting tight on her nest. I tried to candle them like Barb had showed me before but I don't think I did it right becuase I couldn't really see anything. Still it's kind of fun to wait and see what might happen.I am suprised to find my not so baby, baby chickens have begun to lay eggs already. There are about 6 months old now and I kind of had not expected anything from them until next year but they decided now was as good time as any to start. My Aracuna girls lay very pretty light green eggs and the Sliver Laced Wyndottes make lovely light brown or tan colored ones. The only thing is being free range chickens that means the eggs are free range too. The can range from anywhere under the coop, to in a bush, behind the gate, inside an old uptrurned pot. They make me hunt for them all right.
This is her royal highness Lily Margaret. I think she is wondering why that man who comes over here always takes his shoes off!

Great photos! If you candled the eggs and they looked solid inside with the air pocket still showing, that's how they should be looking by now. If you could see through the egg white, they aren't developing. I'm hoping they were solid! Let us know :-)
