Well well whats new pussycat? Lot's in my case. The BF managed to get a great deal through AAA for a room at the Hilton in Vegas.
We left last Thursday and came back on sunday. We upgraded our room to a suite so I can say I have lived in luxury. The room was very nice with a good view and a big flat screen TV, a sofa and the biggest bathtub I have ever seen. I think I can say I've had a taste of the good life after staying in a hotel room with a sofa in it!
We had a great time and we both did very well in the gambling area. The BF had a big win on the horses and I had a 190.00 win on a horse called Hardspun. I also did pretty well on the slots. We went up to the top of the imitation Eiffel Tower in the Paris Hotel. The view was pretty and we could see the Bellagio fountian show from above which was way cool.
We had dinner one night at Batitsta's hole in the wall. It's a wonderful Italian restuarant. It's always crowded and they have thier menu written the walls. They also give you a big ol' jug of wine with your meal. No trip to Batista's is complete with a brief visit from Gordy, Gordy is a little old fella who wanders around telling jokes and playing songs on his accordian. Of course since we were staying in Star Trek central we also ate at Quarks. I think we've been there about 5-6 times now. As usual the Bf got his favorite the Hamborger.
It was a little different staying a ways off the strip but we got monorail passes and it was no trouble to catch a ride to the strip. The BF splurged and took to a very swanky steak house called "The range" Man, was that good! We had crab cake appetizers and a bottle of wine. I had Prime Rib with roasted potatoes and the biggest king crab legs I have ever seen. Bf had filet mignon with lobster tail. We had creme brulee for desert. The waiter brought it to the table and then he whips out a blow torch to caramelze the desert. There was some very nice live jazz music also.
So all in all we both had a terrific time. We're getting to be regulars at this, I think this was our 5th time. We also hit up the art museum in the Venitian and Madam Toussauds. I had been to that before but Bf had't, oddly enough I have been to 4 madam toussauds in 4 different countries. Probably since I like to look at the wax figues of famous people and fel good about short some of them are. I swear I am taller than Sylvester Stallone. Anyhoo at the Vegas one they had a really cool "haunted house" type thingy where you meet the principle of a school who needs to give you a tour since you will be volunteering there. Mr. Principle is quickly possessed by Freddy Kruger and then run the gamut of horror flick personas. Apparently Leatherface likes to chill with Freddy at the old school.
As it turns out it was a good thing I made some dough in Vegas, looks like I am going to need it. For the last month I have been having sporadic right ear pain. I thought maybe it was just a mild ear infetion and left it alone. Last sunday I woke up with a pretty bad pain on the right side of my face and jaw. Over the next couple of days it began to hurt even more. For the last 3 nights I have been woken up by extreme pain. I tell ya, this is the closest I have ever come to going in to the emergency room. Saw my Dr, he knows his stuff but his bedside manner could use some work. He told me I probably have TMJ. So he gives me some pain pills and some other pills that are supposed to make me have more rem sleep, so I don't grind my teeth in my sleep. Even with those pills I still woke up in a lot of pain. Then I tried some stronger pain pills and they helped a little more.
I went to the dentist for a second opinion and to make sure it wasnt just a cavity. Other than needing a good cleaning and some old silver fillings replaced eventually my teeth are ok, no cavities or anything that could be causing the problem. So the dentist did a mold of my mouth and is getting a bite guard for me to wear at night that is supposed to stop me from grinding. He said that judging from the wear on my teeth I've been grinding away at them for a very long time, possibly years! At the end of the visit and we starting talking insurance and (what it doesn't cover) Holy crap teeth are expensive things! Made me remember why I avoided going to the dentist for so long
He also gave me some muscle relaxers to help with the pain.
So now I'm feeling pret-ty relaxed right now and I am hoping to sleep though the night tonight. The only other news is that I got a new computer, a little laptop. Of course it's taking me forever to figure out how everything works on this thing.
Unfortunately we had a nasty Halloween suprise last night. I went out this morning to gather eggs to find one of my buff orpington chickens dead. Something had a big chicken dinner last night. I'm thinking it must have been a large cat or one or more racoons. Whatever it was just helped themselves to a chicken and took it over to a large rock and finished thier dinner. I think the Bf is relieved that he won't have to dig another grave becuase there really isnt much to bury in the first place.
So I'm sad. I think if I wasn't on painkillers I would be feeling more sad but hey, that's life. Shit happens! I knew from the start that this was somthing that would likely happen.
