This is what the girls and I woke up to this morning. We had a good 4 inches or so fall overnight. The girls weren't too thrilled about this and took thier time waking up today. I am glad to report that they are back in business laying eggs. I have found a secret nest and caught one in the act It's sure nice to have fresh eggs again.
Since my birdfeeder broke I made sure to put out some suet cakes and lots of wild bird seen today and we had all kinds of visitors. Above is a good sized flock that hung around until the crows came.
Yesterday the BF and I went to a movie. After hearing about how much his folks enjoyed the movie "There will be blood" we decided to go see it. I haven't been to a movie in ages. Wow prices have gone up. $15.00 for a Sunday matine? Another thing that I thought was interesting were the adds for the military.. Hmmmmm Don't remember seeing those back when I was in High School.
Anyways it was a fantastic movie...Daniel Day Lewis was awesome.
Both Bf and I stayed home for "snow day' today. With 4 inches out there I wasn't going to chance it and Bf walked down to the bus stop only to watch his bus get stuck so after a swing by Starbucks he came home too.
So with some extra time on my hands I went poking around in the fiber room. I happened to spy a couple of balls of yarn that screamed HAT at me. {Plus they were alpaca silk} Smoooooooooooooth
So here she is
The photo below is the egg that Hannah Cockatoo laid the other day and a regular chicken egg. I took the picture to give an idea of the size of a parrot egg. Seems like Bubba was hoping that one of these would be hard boiled. His favorite.
There was an excellent tv show on channel nine last night. It was an episode of nature featuring parrots of Austraila. Lots of budgies, lories, cockatiels and of course cockatoos. There was even a segment on how scientists are studying eclectus and thier mating habits becuase they are so unusual. Lets just say they don't believe in a commited relationship.
Hannah got pretty excited seeing and hearing some of the birds on the TV.
It was great to see a good nature show devoted just to parrots.
