Bye Bye M.B!
This is Dime hen here to report on the happenings at the coop. Our neighbor the Mountain Beaver was relocated in a top secret mission late last night. The people here have been trying to catch him for some time now. Poor Diane chicken couldn't resist the tempting goodies left in the hav-a heart cafe and managed to get herself caught repeatedly. Mr Mountain Beaver never bothered us any unless he got too close to "our" bread and got a peckin' But it seems he really liked to eat the peoples plants and we suspect there is an extensive network of tunnels undr the deck. So it was decided that he needed to find a more suitable home. The last time he was spotted it was noticed that he appeared to have tangled with a cat or possibly a dog or some other animal as he had a few battle scars. Trooper that he is he still came out to swipe our bread.
Evidently he forgot what the big shiny metal box was for and walked right in yesterday evening. The people did they best they could to make him as comfortable as possible with Zuccini, water and lettuce but he was not a happy camper and somehow managed to get his nose and big front teeth stuck
in the cage.
The people had to get wire cutters to free his nose after pushing on it didn't produce any results.
Since Mr M.B was so upset at his perdicament the people decided it would be best to relocate him asap. So under the cover of darkness they transfered him to an old cat crate ( to avoid any further nose incidents) From the reports the hens have gathered he was taken to a place with lot's of shrubbery and green
things for im to eat and apparently there are a few chickens that also live in this are so he should feel right at home.
Hopefully those wild chickens will enjoy his company as much as we did.
There has been no further developements on the racoon war front. Rumours have been heard that a racoon body was seen not far from here by the side of the road, Roadkill I think the people called it. We hope that this may have been our marauder. Since spring is approaching the other girls and I have felt the need to start laying eggs again. Even though the people have made our coop very comfortable with fresh straw and bedding we still feel the best place for laying eggs is under the coop. This seems to frustrate our lady person as she will mumble alot as she has to get down on her knees with a rake and "rake" out the eggs. We don't mind becuase she often will break an eggs by accident and we get a treat.
So the word is not that Mr M.b has moved the people will want to plant some things out back this spring. So we are hopng there might be some berries or maybe tomatoes for us to eat this summer.
Those loud "house" birds get lots of tasty fruit and veggies from what we understand...so maybe there will be more for everyone.
