Seems we have yet another mystery.

After weeks of an empty trap I decided to bring out the big guns. Marshmallows. I understand that Coons just love them. So I placed a little trail of them leading to the trap that was out front by the fence, right near where they dug under before.

Today I happened to glance down there and was surprised to see no trap at all. Since it was raining Bf gallantly volunteered to go investigate. After a few minutes he came back and said "Things were weird down there" The trap had been set off ( but with nothing in it) and had been dragged several feet over to the neighbours bush. It had been lodged in the bush. My first thought was that some pond sucking tree hugging neighbour had deprived me of my Coon skin Cap. Bf said it really didn't look like a person could have wedged the trap in the bushes and if they did why?

Upon further investigation the mystery gets more mysterious. A large area of lawn near where the trap was had been dug up and dirt was all over the area. I thought the Coons were trying to dig under the fence again but this area was away from the fence. After retrieving the trap and putting it back I noticed a marshmallow had a little bitemark out of it. Possibly Coon or Possum sized I would guess, also the marshmallow trail was gone.

So, here are my theories Wastson.
1. A coon or possum fell for the marshmallow trail and got trapped. Now here is where it gets tricky.

2.It could be that neighbourhood dogs ( there are some big ones) discovered trapped critter and wanted to eat it for themselves and tried hard to dig it out and dragged the trap around trying to get the critter out.

3.Or maybe...a Coon got trapped and his fellow Coons banded together to try to free him but digging around the trap and when that failed they tried to take him back home trap and all.

4Or A coon got trapped and some pond sucking tree hugging coon liberalist tried to free the savage beast and found that he or she couldn't really do so without getting bitten or scratched and so tried to maneuver the trap somehow dragging it around the area.

5.Another option is the same as number one, just substitute a cat

6. A Coon or possum got his tail caught in the trap. That could explain the dragging and digging as it would be trying pretty damn hard to get away.

Right now I am most apt to believe the last theory, I sincerely hope that some pond sucking tree hugger isn't trespassing on my property. Along with my slight hoarding tendancies I also tend to be a little territorial. I am wondering if I need a permit to put barbed wire on the top of my fences... or I could just glue broken glass on there.

Once the weather improves I will be setting up the SCARECROW thingy that has sensors and squirts water. Sadly it can't distinguish between Coons cats or nosey nieghbours..well, I can live with that.

Below is the Rhody in the chicken run..a little something to brighten this so far gloomy spring
