Tu lauterbach hab ich mein stumpf verlot'n

German anyone?

I scored mega big time this weekend. Bf and I went to a big antique fair at the Puyallup fair grounds. We both had just planned on poking around and we both hit the jackpot. Bf found a very nice whale tooth at a great price and I found an amazing spinning wheel.

It's pretty old but I have no idea how old. The people selling it confessed to know nothing about spinning wheels and they were happy to bargin and get it off thier table. I am almost feeling guilty becuase I got it for such a steal, I'm pretty sure that it's worth more than I paid for it.
When I first saw it I was impressed by it's good condition and price but went through the usual self talk about not needing another wheel yadda yadda. But I felt I couldn't walk away from it.

It has a very nice finish with lots of flowery decoration all over and it came complete with a distaff and three bobbins. The flyer is painted metal and it has other metal parts, plus it's a double drive. Now here's the kicker folks........the bloomin' thing actually works!! a little rough to get started but I have already spun some romney and works!

I didn't realize until I got it home that it has german writing on it. It's kinda fancy and hard to read but my best guess is

Tu lauterbach hab ich mein strumpf verlot'n

From what I can figure usuing the internet is that it translates to something like.
Do (or don't) have my socks (stockings) by the loud brook over night?
I really don't know, any German speakers have any idea?

This is my first true antique wheel. Lord know I don't need another one but this is a small one and so pretty.

Here, Lily checks my spining progress
